Terms & Conditions

By using the services of Dr Terezia Balusikova MVDr MSc(CAB) MSVM MRCVS, trading as Happy Pet Solutions, the caregiver agrees to the following Terms & Conditions. Happy Pet Solutions reserves the right to change and update these terms and conditions at any time.

Effective from 1st of September 2025

Consultations, Follow-Ups and Practical Sessions

  • Consultations are available by veterinary referral only.

  • Consultations will only be confirmed once the veterinary referral form, medical history, and behaviour questionnaire have been received.

  • The initial consultation lasts 1–3 hours, depending on the case, and is usually conducted remotely via Google Meet (or a similar platform). In certain cases, and by agreement, an in-person visit may be arranged, subject to assessment of safety, risk, and the pet’s welfare.

  • Two follow-up consultations are included in the Behaviour Package, each lasting about 1 hour, and may be held remotely or in person.

  • The duration and content of any consultation are at the discretion of Happy Pet Solutions and depend on the pet’s mental and physical state. The pet’s welfare is the highest priority and will guide all decisions made. If there are safety or welfare concerns during a home visit, Happy Pet Solutions reserves the right to end the consultation and continue via video or phone.

  • If further medical investigations or treatments are recommended (subject to referring vet clinical judgement), these are to be carried out by the primary care vet or a specialist referral service, and will be charged separately by those practices.

  • Any children present during a consultation must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.

  • All training handouts and any material given to the caregiver are under copyright to Happy Pet Solutions, and are not to be used, amended, or photocopied for purposes other than personal use in relation to the pet. The materials cannot be passed on to other members of the public without the express written permission of Happy Pet Solutions.

Case Reviews and Advice Service for Behaviour Colleagues

  • This service is available to certified CABs and CCABs for second opinions and support with complex cases, which may involve psychoactive medication (fast-acting and/or long-term) and/or further veterinary investigations’ recommendations.

  • A review of the veterinary history, relevant test results, and behavioural history (including supporting videos such as problem behaviour or gait) will only be undertaken once consent has been obtained from both the caregiver and the referring vet, and full payment has been received.

  • Happy Pet Solutions will discuss the case with the colleague via video call and provide written advice to both the colleague and the referring primary care vet. Brief ongoing email or phone support will be available to the referring vet for up to six months to assist with medication reviews, including dose adjustments or changes as far as the animal remains under the colleague’s and vet’s care. This is to allow continuity and provide full benefit from Happy Pet Solutions’ input.

  • Beyond six months from the initial case review, a new ‘Advice Service’ must be purchased to continue support.

Training Methods

  • The science-based training techniques used by Happy Pet Solutions are intended to be kind, ethical, and reward-based.

  • Harsh handling of pets, physical force, and the use of punitive methods, harsh corrections, or equipment designed to be aversive (including choke chains, check chains, prong collars, spray/vibration collars, e-collars, or any other device deemed unacceptable) are not permitted during sessions and should not be used in training

Aggression and Liability

  • The caregiver confirms that any aggressive behaviour (defined as any threat or attempt to injure, through the use of growling, showing teeth, barking, snapping, attempting to bite, biting, or scratching in cats) the pet has shown in the past or between sessions, towards people or other animals, must be disclosed in full prior to any service commencing.

  • All cases of aggressive behaviour carry a risk of injury to other people and animals. Although Happy Pet Solutions can offer management advice, it is ultimately the caregiver’s responsibility to manage this risk and to be aware of their legal responsibilities, including under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

  • Even if aggression improves, recurrence is still possible.

  • Caregivers remain fully responsible for managing their pet’s behaviour and for the safety of others.

  • Advice from Happy Pet Solutions does not transfer liability.

  • The caregiver agrees not to hold Happy Pet Solutions, its staff, or associates liable for any injury, damage to property, or other consequences resulting from the pet’s behaviour.

Payment, Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

  • Payment shall be made at the time of booking a service, and once the invoice has been received by email. If payment has not been received within 48 hours of the service commencing, the service will be cancelled.

  • When the Behaviour Package is purchased, two follow-up sessions must be used within 3 months from the date of the initial consultation taking place. Any sessions which have not been used before expiry will be forfeited and will not be eligible for a refund, except in exceptional circumstances, in which case they may be refunded or re-arranged at the sole discretion of Happy Pet Solutions.

  • Travelling costs are chargeable (45p per mile) for services rendered beyond the limit of the area normally covered by Happy Pet Solutions, being a 60-minute car radius from Ringwood, Hampshire, UK.

  • Requests to reschedule a consultation and cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice.

  • Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a 30% charge to cover any preparatory work already performed.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours or a no-show will not be refunded and caregivers will still be obliged to pay the full amount.

  • In the unlikely event of Happy Pet Solutions needing to reschedule a consultation, this will be communicated at the earliest possible opportunity and an alternative time and date will be arranged. If the alternative date and time do not suit the caregiver, a full refund can be arranged.

  • Happy Pet Solutions does not provide free consultations or evaluations beyond the advertised 10–15 minute introductory call.

Emergency and Prescribing Policy

  • Happy Pet Solutions does not provide 24/7 cover for behavioural cases. Caregivers must contact their primary care vet (or respective out-of-hours provider) in emergencies, if urgent advice is needed outside office hours, or when Happy Pet Solutions is unavailable.

  • In line with the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct, Happy Pet Solutions does not prescribe psychoactive medication. Recommendations can only be provided for consideration by the primary care vet.

Disclaimer

  • Behavioural problems are often complex, and while improvements are possible, some behaviours cannot be fully resolved and may require lifelong management.

  • The caregiver understands that training and behaviour modification can take time and consistency, and that the implementation of any training or behaviour modification plan is their own responsibility, as is the pet’s welfare and ongoing behaviour.

  • There is never any guarantee that the pet will achieve the desired level of training or behaviour modification, despite the best efforts of Happy Pet Solutions.

  • While every effort is made to anticipate and avoid adverse reactions and side effects, they may still occur.

  • In some cases, rehoming or behavioural euthanasia may be discussed and recommended.

  • Client feedback is welcomed and any comments or complaints should be directed to Terezia Balusikova at happypetsolutions123@gmail.com.
